About

genshin impact, amirite?

okay, in reality, i'm sure that some people who view this page know about it. but for those who don't...

genshin impact is a gacha rpg set in the honkai general universe, though at the moment, outside of collabs, is it's own entity. if you're familiar with hoyoverse's games, you'll be seeing some familiar faces, and i'm sure at this point you might even be a little pissed off that some genshin characters show up when you search their names instead of the honkai versions.
it features an element-based party combat system, though isn't turn based. it's real time combat, and a lot of the gameplay (at least, late game) relies on the knowledge of the combat system and how to use it to your advantage.... but also a lot of the gameplay involves quests, which is something that bothers a lot of players who always skip over the roleplaying game part of the game's description.
(this isn't to say that it isn't a bit annoying sometimes, lol)

being a gacha game, it isn't something i suggest to anyone else who is uncomfortable with that kind of system in their games, nor anyone who does not like roleplaying games, as mentioned above with the story. but if you do enjoy gacha games, then go ahead! and especially go ahead if you love series that have a lot of lore that requires your attention to understand.

like most gacha games, outside of the main story, there is a few different systems going on that require real time attention. of those include: 'resin', daily commissions, enemy respawns, and item respawns.
'resin' is the game's stamina-like currency, which regenerates 1 for every 8 minutes. this resource is used for most gathering in the game that isn't from non-boss enemies, chests, and items. you can also use 'resin' to create items! (do not do this. do not do this. do not do this. do not-)

ok. general stuff over. why do i like it? well...

there's a few reasons! but the most prominent of them all is that the game is extremely fun as a collector.
you ever sit there during rpgs, in that weird part before the end of the game where you're just sitting there, grinding everything, trying to get as close to 100% as you could so you can be overpowered as fuck before the main boss? or maybe you've finished your pokedex fully, especially if you're making a living dex in pokemon?
genshin is similar! of course, the first bit of the game is draining for new players, especially now with how many regions there are, but with no direct endgame right now, all there is to do is to sit there, collect items, build characters, and experiment!
for some people, this is not a positive in the slightest. for some, they hate having to spend hours building their teams, spending time to learn mechanics, and using their time to just barely get any progress, and that's understandable!
but for me... i can't help but enjoy it! ^_^
